Walking around Siam Ocean World (Aquarium)

Posted by on June 19, 2012

While in the Siam Centre, we visited Siam Ocean World, which is a quite large aquarium in the basement of the shopping centre. I haven’t been to many aquariums before, so I can’t really compare, but we were speaking to someone who said the aquarium is much better than the one in Dubai. And knowing how Dubai has some pretty amazing things, Siam Ocean World must be a good Aquarium then (which I think it was).

There were a lot of fish and some reptiles that’ I’ve never soon before, and there are some quite large fish tanks. It’s also interesting that the tanks aren’t made of glass. They are made of layers of Acrylic plastic which is meant to be stronger and more durable then glass, and does not break or crack.

There are also tours of “behind the scenes” of the aquarium, but that cost extra and we didn’t have tickets. I think they would have been good to see. The tours start every 15 minutes, and are at the beginning of the aquarium, and it’s not until the end of the aquarium you think, “I should have went in”.

The aquarium has a large underwater tunnel which links is the same tank as the main fish tank that is on display.

Now, instead of boring you with a text description, here are some photo’s. For the full collection, check out my collection on Flickr.
