Review: Our Stay In Hotel Wegener, Mannheim

Posted by on October 9, 2012

Visiting the Louvre was our last day in Paris and it was a drive straight to Manheim for where our actual holiday is about to start.

After we have done the Paris trip, it’s now the Europe Camping Trip and we are picking up our campervan in Mannheim in Germany.

Because the drive is quite long, and we pick the campervan up at 2pm, we needed a place to stay. So we set the GPS to the tourist information centre in Mannheim. Instead, our GPS sent us to a underground paid car park for the train station. We couldn’t find a tourist information place, but we found an information counter and a lovely man helped us to find accommodation for 3. He recommended a few places,  but most only had rooms for two – targeting the business people. In the end, we settled for Hotel Wagener which for 114 Euro got us a huge 3 bed room.

Entering the room was quite funny though, there’s not one, not two, but three doors to open before you get to your bed. You could make it four doors to open if you opened the bathroom door.

Hotel Wagener offered free Wifi, however the signal struggled to go through the hotel’s walls.

The beds were comfy, so where the pillows and dooners provided, and because this night was going to be our last night of luxury, we decided to have a few baths.

So if you need to find a reasonably cheap place to stay for 3 people, Hotel Wegener’s the place to stay. They even offer complementary breakfast.

The only downside is that there is street metered parking (between 9am and 5pm). Outside those hours, you need to pay. But they do offer you a secure garage at a car park down the road for 9.5 Euro, however, it is a bit of a walk.
