Heading for Germany… Don’t think about tunnels being closed

Posted by on September 10, 2012

After leaving Croatia and visiting some of the towns along the west coast, we were on our way to Germany, in specific, Berchtesgaden to see Hitler’s house, or also know as Eagles Nest.

As we were driving in Italy, we got a little lost, because the exit we wanted to take was yet again closed. This was like the 4 exit that was closed that we wanted to take. Not only this, a random thought popped into my head:

I wonder what would happen if one of these tunnels are closed. There’s not really an short alternative route to take

And literally, the next tunnel…. yep, it was closed and diversions where in place (luckily). So it’s wise, not to think about this sort of stuff. After explaining this to the person I was travelling with, he said:

Don’t mention or think about the car breaking down…

We stopped off at family in Marostica for the night, and made our way through Austria. Here are a few photo’s during the trip.

I don’t have the exact route that we took, but, I believe the route we took were the following roads: SS47, SS50, SS51, SS51b, SS52 through Sesto, SS532, to Sillian, to Lienz, then 108, 168, 311 to Berchtesgaden
