When I visit a website, what information does my browser automatically give?

Every time you go to a website, your web browser will often hand over the following information about you:

  • Your language
  • Operating System
  • Your web browser
  • Web browsing settings
  • Screen resolutions
  • Location (Only country, not address)
  • How many times you’ve previously visited the site
  • What you searched for to visit the site (however, if you are using Google with SSL, this information is no longer available)
  • What site refereed you to the current site
  • Your host name (mentioned above)
  • Your IP Address
